Review On Braun SE 5280 Silk Epil 5 Epilator
Review On Braun SE 5280 Silk Epil 5 Epilator
The epilator model in the Silk Epil 5 series of Braun, called the SE5280 (or SE5280) is one of the most popular models of epilators sold today. The Braun 5280 Silk Epil 5 is probably just as highly rated as the 7681 and 7181 from the Silk Epil 7 series.
What might be better for this model from the Silk Epil 5 series is to compare the features which it has to the say the 3170 and the 7681 model. This will allow the reader to realize which of the features have been removed or added to it.
What can be done from the start is to first check out the Braun product page for the 5280 to see what is said on there. Target, Walmart, Ebay, and Amazon might all be picking up this model to become a middle man to resell it for a higher price so we always want to know how much these types of electrical hair removal devices will cost if we removed the middle man and bought it form the source or original sellers. Is it cheaper, or does the online giant retail stores have a cheaper, better deal for you?
If we are only looking at the price of the model, it is listed currently around $56 on Amazon and $66 from Walmart. You can buy it from these two sources of get it from Drugstore.com, P&G, and Soap.com. So in terms of convenience and price, it seems that somehow Amazon has a better price than even Walmart.
So in terms of price, Amazon is slightly better at saving you around $10 from purchase. But what about the features?
When we look at just the product specifications, somethings become quite obvious when we are trying to compare this model, the Silk Epil 5 5280, to say the other really popular one, the Silk Epil 7 7681.
The first things is that this model is not labeled to be a “Wet & Dry” Epilator. What does that mean? This means that you can’t take this device cordless and use it in the shower, bath, or anyplace that is wet. Some types of epilators allow you to use them with the head in the water or have the leg first be lathered up with foam. This model, the 5280 can’t. It can only be used in dry situations. That means that overall, the epilation session is probably going to be more painful. Using water and in wet situations overall means that the act of having your hair ripped out is slightly less painful. However the specs does reveal that you can at least wash the head underwater because of the sealed plastic covering.
The 2nd thing is that while the head does have the feature of massaging the skin where the epilator is applied, the head does have the close grip technology. What does that mean? This means that the head does have the feature where it can swivel, and turn to adjust the epilator head to the curves and contours of the body. It does have the pivoting head feature. When you are moving the epilator over a skin area, the head will swivel to adjust to the curves of the bumps in the body accurately. The result is that you will be able to remove hair as effectively as with a head that can pivot and swivel.
As for the number of tweezers, it has the same number as the models in the Silk Epil 7 series. There is 40 tweezer heads.
One thing that this model does come with which the 7681 does not come with are the cooling gloves. These cooling gloves are like a mitt that you put on your hand and which you apply to the skin you plan to use the epilator on and rub it a little. You also use it after you finish removing the hairs in the region to decrease the pain, redness, and being too swollen.
This models should have what is known as the SoftTip Lips which are the plastic knob-like shaped plastic edges. The plastic tips vibrate or rub at very high frequencies and when they are applied to the skin the hairs in the region where the SoftTip Lips are start to vibrate and stand up on end from the roots as opposed as what they were doing before, which was just to lay flat down on the side. This features is something that some of the models by Braun do not come with. Because of just this feature alone, you would not need to worry about the increased chance of ingrown hair as much as if you were using some other types of epilators.
The things that this model has which are the same as the 7681 include the fact that they both have the SmartLight which is in the middle of the device. The light will shine to help the user see better how well the hairs have been removed as well as being thorough on which hairs might have been missed with that pass. The other ones is that they both have included with the kit the pre-epilation wipes.
What is the major difference between the various models of Silk Epil Epilators sold by Braun may not be any of the features which we just mentioned above but the type of head caps that they come with. For the 5280, there is actuallt 3 different epilator head caps that are included with it. There is the efficiency head cap, the shaver cap, and the trimmer head cap. With each of these 3 caps that are provided, you can just pop them off and on to turn the epilator into a hair trimmer or shaver in seconds.
As for the overall device, it is a cordless device which means that it will still work when you unplug the power cord from the wall outlets. This means that there is a battery inside to power it. It is another model with the two speed design, which is very nice. You can see from the product page of the Silk Epil 5 5280 that goes into slightly more detail on the product descriptions.
Some things that are said about the 5280 is actually very confusing. From other sources, it does seem to have the pivoting head technology for a much closer, hair removal experiences. The claim is that hairs as short as 0.5 mms can still be pulled out by the device. It seems that the device is waterproof and you can indeed wash the head using war water under the sink.
So what do other people who have already bought the Braun 5280 think of it?
There is around 130+ reviews currently found on the Amazon website about this product and it seems that the general consensus by the people who have tried out this model is that it is reasonably good hair removal electrical device. It has around a 7/10 rating. Only 30% of the people who have said anything have given it the highest of ratings. It is true that this model is not the model with the most features but with the specs that it does have, it is not really lacking anything.
So what do I think of the model?
The Braun 5280 Silk Epil 5 is one of those models sold which have been getting much more attention than it is probably worth but it is still a great epilator to have. The pricing on this model puts it in the mid-range for epilator costs. The main difference between this model and the other models sold by Braun was the type of head caps that is included. Where the 7681 had 5, this one had 3 and I would guess that the 3 caps it does have are the most often used ones. Because of this, I think the 5280 model is probably the best choice when a person is looking for a great, reliable, durable epilator which is reasonably priced and have sufficient features to do a good job in removing hair. I would highly recommend this model.
